Don’t forget to split-test

We all know split-testing is important, but do we actually take action?

I’m going to keep this one short, and take this blog as a example.

Some of you might think split-testing takes a complete overhaul, but it’s all about the smallest changes.

This blog has a opt-in form for the marketing revolt newsletter.

A few days ago the opt-form looked like this:

Old opt-in form

This form got about 1 subscriber per day, so I decided to split-test the form.

The new opt-in form looks like this:

New Opt-in form

I changed the text around & added a nice graphical header.

I now receive 2 to 3 subscribers per day.

With simple changes like this you can easily double your income.

The possibilities with split-testing are endless.

I will give you another example:

The following button is placed on one of my niche websites promoting a beat maker called Dubturbo.

Button

This button is added on top of the side-bar very visible to all my visitors. I was getting a lot of hops from this button alone, so I decided to add more to it.

I added the following text right under the button:

Click button

And there we go, I was getting more hops.

I decided to get a bit more creative, and figured that people will have more trust in something if others are using it already.

So I added the following:

Social

The complete banner now looked like this:

Affiliate banner

This simple process ended up in more monthly income. It might be hard to believe but these small changes can do wonders.

Obviously you can go a lot further then this.

  • Split-test with your headlines
  • Changing words in your sales pitch
  • Rotating different banners for the highest Click-Through Rate (CTR)
  • Change the colors of your affiliate links
  • Use different graphics overall
  • And much more ( Get creative. )

Don’t forget to split-test !

PS: The smallest things can also ruin your sales.
